Day-by-Day Recovery Timeline
What to Expect After Your Treatment
Immediately After
Treated area will be red and slightly swollen. Small dots visible at each treatment point. This is completely normal. Apply recommended soothing cream. For eyelid treatments, sleep elevated with extra pillows to minimise morning swelling.
Peak Swelling
Swelling may peak, particularly for eyelid treatments. This is temporary and normal. Carbon crust dots begin to form and darken. Do not touch, pick, or scratch the treated area. Use cold compresses for comfort.
Crusting Phase
Swelling subsides significantly. Carbon crusts are fully formed — small dark dots covering the treatment area. Skin may feel tight and itchy. This means healing is progressing well. Continue gentle cleansing and moisturising.
Crusts Fall Off
Carbon crusts begin to naturally fall off, revealing fresh pink skin beneath. Do not force or peel them — let them shed naturally. New skin will be pink and sensitive. Begin using SPF 50+ sunscreen on exposed areas.
Initial Healing Complete
Skin continues to tighten and improve. Pinkness gradually fades. Collagen remodelling is underway beneath the surface. Visible improvement in skin firmness and texture. Continue daily sun protection.
Full Results
Deep collagen and elastin remodelling completes. Full tightening results become visible. Skin appears firmer, smoother, and more youthful. Results continue to improve for up to 6 months and last 2–3 years.

DON'T
- Pick, scratch, or peel carbon crusts

- Expose treated skin to direct sunlight
- Use saunas, steam rooms, or hot tubs for 2 weeks
- Swim in pools or the ocean for 2 weeks
- Exercise vigorously for at least 5 days
- Use exfoliating products or retinol for 4 weeks
- Use fake tan on the treated area for 4 weeks
Sun Protection Is Critical
Sun protection after plasma fibroblast treatment is absolutely essential. The newly healed skin is highly susceptible to UV damage, which can cause hyperpigmentation (dark patches) that may be difficult to reverse.
- Apply SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses when possible
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 3 months
- If you notice any unusual darkening, contact Ana Belén immediately
Perth's strong UV levels make sun protection especially important for our local clients. This applies even on overcast days, as UV rays penetrate clouds.
When to Seek Advice
While complications are rare when treatment is performed by an experienced practitioner, you should contact Ana Belén if you experience:
- Excessive swelling that does not improve after 3 to 4 days
- Signs of infection (increasing redness, warmth, pus, or fever)
- Unusual pain that is not improving
- Any concerns about your healing progress
